Group page/technology

The group page really helped me because everything you need is right there. Whenever anyone posted somthing on there, it was right there. Also, email helped me communicate with my group members while I'm gone out of town on a track meet. They emailed me whatever they needed me to do, and I would have it done whenever it was due. My group met personally in a particular place, but I had to meet with the group virtually because it is track season and I am always on the road.

ETHICS

I learned that there are some people in this world who do not care about anyone but themselves. I think this is bad for a company to continue and let a person use their product when they know that the product is no good. My morals are to be honest, and never give up at anything I do. I can use my honesty to better myself as a person, and my hard work to help me accomplish my goals in life as an athlete and a student. Hopefully I will graduate on time and make it to the next level in my track and field career and my morals we help me make it.

Terrible Miscommunication at regionals

I witnessed terrible miscommunication at outdoor regionals with our 4x100 meter relay team. Jacoby Ford and I had our handoffs perfected in practice as well as the day before the meet. He was the second leg and I ran third leg. So we are warming up for our race (handoffs are still perfect) and coach Charles Foster decides to come over and say, "hey Blu, move your mark up a couple steps," so I'm thinking in my head "what in the world is he thinking?" I can't voice my opinion on the call because he is the coach and its only respectful to do what your told by your coach. Jacoby has no idea that I had to move my mark up a couple steps. The race starts, CJ Spiller gets us off to a commanding lead then hands the baton off to Jacoby. Jacoby then takes away from the rest of the field and begins to get close to my mark. Note: the mark is way too far up the track. Jacoby hits the mark, then I take off as I get into the exchange zone and reach back for the baton. I hear Jacoby scream "BLU SLOW DOWN!" I slow down and literaly stopped right in front of the gold triangle and got the baton, but the meet official still puts up the red flag. So we win the race by a long way, but unfortunately, we were disqualified. This whole thing could have been avoided if coach Charles Foster would have just left the marks how they were.

Blog topic for the week of March 2

My favorite presentation of the last couple was Camp Illahee. What I liked about the presentation was how she explained all the different things that were done at the camp, and she also had a schedule of how everything was set up. It was my favorite because the camp seems pretty fun, and I was intrested in the camp untill I found out it was for girls only. However, I may think about gettting my sister put in the camp because she is very adventurous, and she would have a great time there.
I have never made an electronic porfolio before. However, I know I will need a follow up letter, a proposal, meeting sheets, and project draft. I know I have to make a Google Page Website, but I don't know exactly how to make one, but it will be really nice to learn to make one. A demonstration in class will help me make a website.

My favorite 3

My first favorite presentation was by the guy who made the quesadillas, I forgot his name because I lost his handout, but I do remember that wonderful presentation. What made it so enjoyable was the taste. They were delicious. You can ask Jennifer too, she was up there eating about as many times as I was. I learned how to make a tasty quesadillas with pineapples. He was an effective presenter because he spoke loud and clear, he had great pictures for explaining what you needed, and organized slides. The next presentation I enjoyed was the Los huevos de la fiesta by Landon Ray. Of course it's one of my favorites because the dip was good, not quite like the quesadillas, but still pretty good. I learned how to make a Mexican snack. In my opinion, he wasn't an effective presenter because he wasn't loud and clear and didn't really seem excited about his presentation. However, the presentation was one of my favorites not only because the food was good but also because I learned how to make somthing new. My most favorite out of the three is The Best Active Athlete by David Gordon. This presentation was the most enjoyable to me because his idea was creative and different from any of the other presentations. I didn't really learn anything from the presentation because I am a athlete myself and I knew all the athletes he was comparing. He was an effective presenter because he spoke loud and clear, he added humor to his speech and, he had great pictures of the athletes. He never used any picture twice of each athlete. Also, the winner of all the athletes was Usain Bolt who in my opinion is the best athlete.

Cover letter advice

I think the advice given in the website was helpful, so yes, I agree with it. I don't really disagree with any of the advice because I am learning how to write a correct cover letter so all the advice that I read was helpful. The section that was most useful to me, is the one entitled "The Best Use of a Cover Letter" because it told you step by step exactly what you need on a cover letter. One thing that I didn't know was that the cover letter isn't read first, so I will make my resume a little better since that is read first.

Visit from client

The client visit was pretty useful because she gave me a bunch of diffrent ideas for the group and plenty examples of things we could do. I really don't have any ideas for the group yet, but I've been thinking about a video involving me as a character similar to Flash, or Scotty doing somthing similar to the big linebacker guy we watched in class. My biggest concerns are getting an A out of this group project and getting an A in the class. In my opinion, the group is doing fine. We all get along well and enjoy working with each other. And, the question I had for you was answered in class.
